Albesia or Belalu …white, soft wood.
The scientifc name is albizia falcata.
This is a very common wood in Balinese crafts. Albesia is cheap, soft or relatively easy to carve and supplies are plentiful.
In its raw state, Albesia is not particularly good looking and seems to work best when painted. Albesia wood carvings tend to lack the fine detail of suar wood pieces.
